Family Law matters are often emotional and likely one of the toughest times in your life.
In a divorce, it is especially important to have somebody on your side who understands this from the beginning and who also has a clear head to help guide you through this difficult time. In some cases, people choose to get divorced as quickly as possible and do not hire an attorney or conduct basic due diligence to ensure that the division of assets and debts is fair and equitable.
After the emotion has subsided, they find out that they “gave away the farm” during their divorce because they weren’t thinking clearly, did not know their rights, and did not have somebody to advocate for them. There is no undoing or modifying the division of assets and debts once the divorce is final – by this time the damage is done.
